1. Starting from methionine, the target compound is obtained through a 7-step reaction. The total yield is less than 30%. The process uses expensive chemical reagents such as methyllithium (extremely flammable) and tributoxyboron, and there is one step in the process. Using hydrobromide halogenation under strong acidic conditions requires anhydrous and anaerobic conditions. The requirements for equipment and operations are very high, making it difficult to achieve large-scale production.

2. Starting from γ-butyrolactone, the target product is synthesized through five steps including bromination, amination, and addition. The synthesis process is as follows. The reaction finally obtains DL selenomethionine, with a yield of 33%. However, this synthesis route uses highly toxic liquid bromine, which is difficult to operate and requires high equipment.

3. It has the advantages of high product yield, simple synthesis process, easy availability of raw materials, mild reaction conditions, and easy industrialization. The synthesis is divided into two steps. The specific steps are: use DL homoserine as raw material, add hydrobromic acid solution, cool to room temperature after the reaction is complete, cool and crystallize, filter, and obtain DL 2 amino 4-bromobutyric acid hydrogen bromide. Then, use ethanol as the solvent, slowly add selenium powder to NaBH4 under an ice bath, and obtain NaHSe after the reaction is complete; then slowly add NaHSe dropwise to DL 2 amino 4-bromobutyric acid hydrobromide at room temperature. After reacting for 1 hour, slowly add methyl iodide dropwise to continue the reaction until it is complete, adjust the pH value of the reaction solution to 5-6, and dehydrate to obtain the target product DL selenomethionine. The specific experimental steps are: (1) Synthesis of DL 2 amino 4-bromobutyric acid hydrobromide: In the reaction kettle, add 0.60 kgDL homoserine, and at the same time add ethanol and water at a volume ratio of 1:1. Mix solvent 2L, add 2.0kg (density: 1.38g/cm3) 40% hydrobromic acid, heat to 70°C for 1.5h, cool to room temperature, crystallize by cooling, filter to obtain DL 2 amino 4-bromobutyrate hydrogen Bromate, yield 90%.
(2) Synthesis of NaHSe: Under ice bath, add 0.19 kg NaBH4 to 1L ethanol solution, slowly add 0.79 kg Se powder, and connect an air pressure balance device at the same time. After the dropwise addition is completed, continue the incubation reaction for 1 hour.
(3) Synthesis of DL selenomethionine: In a 5L reaction kettle, slowly add the NaHSe obtained in step (2) to the DL 2 amino 4-bromobutyric acid hydrobromide obtained in step (1), After reacting for 1 hour, continue to slowly add 0.64 kg iodomethane dropwise. After reacting at room temperature for 12 hours, adjust the pH value to 5, filter and dehydrate, and obtain the target product white DL selenomethionine product with a yield of 86%.
The core of the synthetic route of this method relies on the generation of nucleophilic NaHSe and completes the transformation of key steps. This synthesis method has the advantages of high product yield, simple synthesis process, easily available raw materials, mild reaction conditions, and easy industrialization.
