Product Introduction
What is cordycepin powder?
The alias of cordycepin powder is 3′-deoxyadenosine, which is the main active ingredient in cordyceps sinensis and cordyceps militaris (especially nucleosides), and is the first nucleoside antibiotic isolated from fungi.
Natural antibiotics are an important definition of it. Due to this characteristic, cordycepin has more places to be applied. We all know the harm of artificial antibiotics. The body will have various adverse reactions after being infected with microorganisms (bacteria, fungi). When people have no choice, they will use antibiotics for treatment to avoid endangering their health due to infection. Antibiotics have important roles, but they are also accompanied by their harms. First of all, antibiotics themselves have side effects and are harmful to the human body. In addition, unreasonable use of antibiotics will cause drug resistance in the human body, which will increase the difficulty of treatment in an emergency.
In 1951, the core ingredient of cordyceps militaris, "cordycepin", was first discovered. It was found to have multiple pharmacological activities such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and immunomodulatory. In the following decades, the academic community has carried out a lot of in-depth research on cordycepin. The content of cordycepin in wild Cordyceps sinensis is extremely small. The cordycepin used in current research is generally extracted from fermented Cordyceps militaris.
What are the health benefits?
Improve immunity
It can stimulate the activity of macrophages and enhance the function of the immune system. It can promote the proliferation and development of immune cells, improve the body's immunity, and thus reduce the incidence and recurrence of diseases.
Delay aging
It has an antioxidant effect, which can remove free radicals in the body and reduce oxidative damage. At the same time, it can also promote the production of collagen, enhance the elasticity and luster of the skin, and thus help delay the aging process.
Lower blood sugar
It can promote the activity and production of insulin and lower blood sugar levels. It can improve the cell's glucose uptake capacity, enhance insulin sensitivity, and help prevent and treat related diseases such as diabetes.
Lower blood lipids
It can reduce the content of serum total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides, and increase the level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. It can prevent and treat cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and help lower blood pressure.
Anti-inflammatory analgesic
It has significant anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, which can effectively relieve pain and inflammatory reactions. It can regulate the response of the immune system and reduce the generation and release of inflammatory mediators, thus helping to prevent and treat a variety of inflammatory diseases.
Protect the liver
It improves the metabolism and detoxification capacity of liver cells, reduces the burden on the liver, and protects liver function. At the same time, it can also promote the regeneration and repair of liver cells, and help prevent and treat related diseases such as hepatitis.
Promote sleep
It has a calming and sleep-inducing effect and can promote sleep quality. It can reduce the content of stress hormones and increase the level of serotonin in the brain, thereby helping to relieve symptoms such as insomnia, anxiety, and depression.
Cordycepin regulates microglial M2 polarization and mitochondrial metabolic reprogramming by targeting HKII and PDK2
Compared with neurons and astrocytes, energy metabolism in MG plays a key role in AD and permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion. In-depth exploration of the intrinsic connection between microglial energy metabolism and phenotypic conversion and the molecular mechanism behind it will provide new perspectives for AD treatment and the development of candidate anti-AD drugs. Cordycepin is the first nucleoside antibiotic isolated from fungi, which exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, antioxidant and immunomodulatory activities in leukemia and diabetes.
COR treatment restores mitochondrial homeostasis in activated microglia to improve learning and memory deficits in APP/PS1 mice
COR improves neuronal microenvironment by inducing a shift in microglial polarization from an M1-like to an M2-like phenotype rather than exerting direct neuroprotective effects
After COR treatment, both OXPHOS and glycolysis are upregulated to maintain mitochondrial homeostasis in AD microglia
COR elicits neuroprotection by inducing microglial M2 polarization triggered by mitochondrial metabolic reprogramming
COR specifically targets HKII and PDK2 within MG mitochondria to regulate mitochondrial metabolism
COR induces microglial M2 polarization by targeting HKII to enhance mitochondrial glycolysis, thereby promoting neuronal survival
COR treatment promotes OXPHOS by targeting PDK2, inducing microglial M2 polarization and neuronal survival
Inhibition of glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation metabolic pathways leads to an imbalance in mitochondrial homeostasis, which is associated with microglial M1 polarization and subsequent neuronal loss. In addition, as a novel anti-AD drug candidate, cordycepin enhances glycolysis and OXPHOS by targeting HKII and PDK2, rescues abnormal metabolic reprogramming, induces the transformation of microglial phenotype from M1 to M2 dominant phenotype, and ultimately promotes neuronal survival. These findings reveal the potential coupling mechanism between mitochondrial metabolic reprogramming and microglial polarization in AD, and provide innovative development strategies for the development of novel drugs targeting mitochondrial dysfunction and neuronal microenvironment. The mitochondrial energy metabolism of microglia in AD is characterized by reduced glycolysis and OXPHOS, resulting in a coupling effect with MG-M1 polarization and neuronal damage. Cordycepin is distributed in the mitochondria of microglia and binds to HKII and PDK2, thereby enhancing glycolysis and OXPHOS coupled with MG-M2 polarization and improving the neuronal microenvironment after cordycepin treatment.
How does it affect blood lipid levels?
Lipid-lowering effect
It can reduce total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in the blood, while increasing the content of high-density lipoprotein (HDL)3. This effect helps maintain the balance of blood lipid metabolism, promotes the catabolism of peripheral fat, and reduces the accumulation of white fat in the body.
Preventing obesity and regulating blood lipids
Studies have shown that cordycepin groups with different concentrations can significantly reduce the body weight and fat coefficient of rats, and the HDL content in the high-dose group is significantly increased, indicating that cordycepin has a certain effect in preventing obesity and regulating blood lipids.
Lipid-lowering mechanism
Cordycepin Powder can effectively remove high concentrations of TC, TG, LDL and body fat in rat serum by increasing HDL, thereby maintaining blood lipid metabolism balance3. Its specific mechanism involves affecting the expression of ADORA1 and then inhibiting the secretion of prolactin, which may provide a scientific basis for the development of cordycepin as a potential weight loss and lipid-lowering drug.
