What is bulk vitamin E oil?

It is a fat-soluble vitamin, and its hydrolysis product is tocopherol, which is one of the most important antioxidants. It is mostly soluble in organic solvents such as fat and ethanol, insoluble in water, stable to heat and acid, unstable to alkali, sensitive to oxygen, and insensitive to heat, but the activity of vitamin E is significantly reduced when fried. Tocopherol can promote the secretion of sex hormones, increase the vitality and quantity of male sperm; increase the concentration of female estrogen, improve fertility, prevent miscarriage, and can also be used to prevent and treat male infertility, burns, frostbite, capillary bleeding, menopausal syndrome, and beauty. Recently, it has also been found that it can inhibit the lipid peroxidation reaction in the lens of the eye, dilate peripheral blood vessels, improve blood circulation, and prevent the occurrence and development of myopia. The phenolic hydroxyl group on the benzene ring is acetylated, and the ester is hydrolyzed to phenolic hydroxyl group to form tocopherol. Vitamin E, also known as tocopherol, mainly includes two types of tocopherol and tocotrienol, a total of 8 compounds, namely α, β, γ, δ tocopherol and α, β, γ, δ tocotrienol. It is a golden or light yellow viscous oily liquid, odorless, with a mild special smell, insoluble in water, and easily soluble in organic solvents such as acetone and fat. It is stable to visible light, decomposes under ultraviolet light, is relatively stable to acid and heat, and is unstable in an alkaline environment. It is an important antioxidant that can remove superoxide free radicals, inhibit lipid peroxidation, and reduce DNA oxidative damage, so it has an anti-aging effect.

Chemical properties:

1. Solubility
It is a slightly yellow or yellow transparent viscous liquid, which is easily soluble in anhydrous ethanol acetone, ether petroleum ether, and insoluble in water.
2. Hydrolysis
There are acetylated phenolic hydroxyl groups on the benzene ring, which can be hydrolyzed to generate free tocopherol when heated in acidic or alkaline solutions, so it is often used as a special impurity.
3. Oxidation:
It is heat-stable under anaerobic conditions and will not be destroyed even when heated to 200°C, but it is very sensitive to oxygen and can be oxidized by light and air. Its oxidation products are a-tocoquinone and a-tocopherol dimer.
4. Ultraviolet absorption characteristics
There are phenolic hydroxyl groups on the benzene ring in the structure of this product, which has inherent ultraviolet absorption. Its anhydrous ethanol solution has the maximum absorption at a wavelength of 284nm, and its absorption coefficient is 41.0~45.0.

There was an experiment involving 232 elderly people over 80 years old. At the beginning, none of them had Alzheimer's disease, but in the subsequent 6 years of follow-up, 57 of them were diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. The researchers classified and compared the people with the highest and lowest VE in their blood. The results showed that the elderly with high VE concentration in their blood had a much lower chance of developing Alzheimer's disease. After excluding other factors, the researchers found that the risk of elderly people developing Alzheimer's disease can be reduced by 45-54% if there is a higher VE in their blood.
