Product Introduction
What is wheat germ extract 1% spermidine?
Spermidine, also known as spermidine trihydrochloride, is an aliphatic polyamine compound that exists in ribosomes and living tissues.
After evaluating hundreds of substances, researchers determined that wheat germ was the best source of spermidine extract. Wheat germ extract is rich in spermidine, which supports autophagy, a self-cleaning process that occurs in the body's cells and is associated with a healthy immune system and slows aging. It also provides other nutrients, such as folate, which plays a role in immune defense, vitamin E, which has cell-protective functions, and is a classic anti-aging ingredient, as well as high-nutrition plant proteins and fats. Based on the healthy properties of this ingredient, it can be applied to product development in the overall health and healthy aging market segments. With its good taste, the extract is suitable for a variety of applications.
Scientific studies have concluded that spermidine has an impact on autophagy. In this continuous self-cleaning process, old and excess cellular components and harmful invaders such as viruses are broken down and recycled. Because these broken down materials can be used to build new structures, this system provides a highly efficient mechanism for the production and renewal of cells. Spermidine is naturally produced in the human body, produced by cells and bacteria in the intestinal microbiome. A diet rich in spermidine can also help stimulate autophagy.
How spermidine works:
1. Autophagy
As the body's cells live, they accumulate cellular debris, including old, damaged, deformed, or other abnormal proteins. Autophagy is a naturally occurring, orderly process that removes these damaged or dysfunctional components.
Although four different forms of autophagy have been identified, the most studied and understood type is macroautophagy, in which damaged cellular components are separated and then separated by double-membrane vesicles within the cell called autophagosomes. After the autophagosomes collect the damaged components, they fuse with available lysosomes, which are membrane-bound organelles within the cell that contain hydrolases that can break down many different kinds of biomolecules. A reduction in autophagy has been associated with many aging-related diseases. Autophagy is the most important mechanism for the regeneration of key parts of the cell, and therefore has great anti-aging potential, with the potential to delay age-related diseases and death.
Spermidine is an autophagy activator that primarily works by inhibiting a group of enzymes called acetyltransferases. These enzymes, especially a group identified as histone acetyltransferases, are known as the "workhorses of the epigenome" and play a very important role in the epigenetic regulation of actual gene expression.
2. Anti-inflammatory properties
Chronic inflammation seems to inevitably increase with age. Polyamine levels, including spermidine, increase during inflammation and help stimulate the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines while reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Cytokines are small proteins that are active in immune responses, signaling the movement of cells to sites of inflammation, infection, or trauma. Recent studies have shown that spermidine also enhances the anti-inflammatory properties of macrophages, immune cells that are specialized for detecting and destroying bacteria and other harmful organisms.
3. As a calorie restriction mimetic
Calorie restriction and various fasting regimens are among the few proven lifestyle interventions that have clearly extended life and improved health in many organisms, including rodent models and non-human primates. However, while intermittent fasting has become popular in many health and wellness circles over the past few years, the vast majority of people are unwilling or unable to drastically change the way they eat, especially for a long period of time. Compounds that mimic the effects of calorie restriction, called calorie restriction mimetics or CRMs, are attractive strategies. Spermidine definitely fits the definition of a CRM and is emerging as a leading contender for this role. Although many of the benefits of fasting and caloric restriction may be attributed to increases in autophagy, there appear to be mechanisms beyond autophagy that explain the positive effects of spermidine on aging. These include direct antioxidant effects of spermidine itself, as well as metabolic effects on arginine bioavailability and nitric oxide production. Arginine is an amino acid used in protein biosynthesis, and nitric oxide induces vasodilation, which relaxes the muscle lining of blood vessels, thereby widening and improving circulation.
