What is pine oil?

Pure pine oil, also known as pine oil or pine resin, is an oleoresin extracted from the wood of pine plants such as Masson pine or Pinus tabulaeformis. This oleoresin is initially a transparent liquid, gradually thickens, and eventually becomes a white or light yellow viscous liquid. It has strong emulsification, good wetting, permeability and leveling properties, and can be used for washing, fabric dyeing, and solvents for coatings, varnishes, oils, etc. It is also used as a mineral flotation agent, alcohol denaturant, antifoaming agent and wetting agent.

Characteristics

• Usually a yellow liquid with a characteristic pine root oil smell.
• The high autoignition temperature indicates that it is somewhat flammable.
• It is insoluble in water, but soluble in ethanol, chloroform, ether and glacial acetic acid.

Function
