Product Introduction

What Is Magnesium Carbonate?

Pure Magnesium Carbonate is a colorless, odorless, white granular powder that is slightly soluble in water, slowly soluble in acid, but easily soluble in strong alkaline solutions. It has excellent chemical properties and is a relatively stable compound. Its trihydrate is a colorless needle-shaped crystal with a melting point of 165°C and a relative density of 1.850. Its pentahydrate is a white monoclinic crystal with a relative density of 1.73, which decomposes when heated in air. Hydrates can be obtained by passing carbon dioxide into a magnesium salt aqueous solution while adding sodium carbonate, and the latter can be dried below 50°C to obtain an anhydrous substance. It is an important inorganic compound with unique physical and chemical properties and is widely used in many industries.

  • The aqueous solution is weakly alkaline and can react with acid to produce corresponding magnesium salts and carbon dioxide.
  • It is stable in the air and begins to decompose when heated to 350℃, and completely decomposes to produce magnesium oxide and carbon dioxide at 700℃.

Physiological Functions

Neutralize gastric acid: It can neutralize gastric acid and is used to treat symptoms such as stomach pain and heartburn caused by excessive gastric acid.

Maintain gastric PH: It can neutralize gastric acid and help maintain the pH value in the stomach between 3 and 5 to prevent excessive erosion of gastric mucosa by gastric acid.

Adsorption and binding: It can adsorb and bind gastric acid protease, directly inhibit its activity, and facilitate the repair of ulcer surface. At the same time, it can also bind bile acid and adsorb hemolytic phosphocholine to reduce damage to gastric mucosa.

Protect gastric mucosa: It can stimulate gastric mucosa to increase the synthesis of prostaglandin E2, which helps regulate the normal secretion of gastric acid and enhance the protective effect of gastric mucosa.

Prevent hyperkalemia and hypermagnesemia: It can maintain the electrolyte balance in the body and help excrete excessive potassium and magnesium ions, thereby preventing hyperkalemia and hypermagnesemia.

Treat acute gastritis and ulcerative colitis: It can neutralize gastric acid, reduce the irritation of gastric acid on gastric mucosa, and help treat acute gastritis. At the same time, it can inhibit gastric acid secretion, protect intestinal mucosa, and relieve the symptoms of ulcerative colitis.

Pure Magnesium Carbonate

Applications

Food

In the food industry, it is mainly used as an anti-caking agent and nutritional supplement. As an anti-caking agent, it can absorb excess water, prevent powdered foods from agglomerating, maintain the fluidity and uniformity of foods, and improve storage stability. As a nutritional supplement, magnesium carbonate provides magnesium to help supplement minerals that may be lacking in the daily diet.

Medicine

As an antacid and laxative, it is used to treat hyperacidity and related digestive system diseases.

Pure Magnesium Carbonate

Cosmetics

Beauty creams and facial cleansers: as fillers and reinforcing agents to improve the texture and stability of products.

‌Shampoo and lotion: as an additive to enhance the stability and uniformity of products.

‌Toothpaste: can increase the friction and cleaning effect of toothpaste while providing magnesium supplementation.

‌Facial mask: as a filler and nutritional supplement to improve the moisturizing and nutritional effects of facial masks

Preparation Process

Dolomite carbonization method: After calcining dolomite, react with water and carbon dioxide to generate magnesium hydroxide precipitation, and then produce magnesium carbonate through carbonization, pyrolysis and other steps.

Brine soda method: Brine and soda are used as raw materials to react under certain conditions to produce magnesium carbonate.

Brine ammonium carbonate method: Also known as the brine baking soda method, brine and ammonium carbonate are used as raw materials to produce magnesium carbonate through reaction.

Magnesium double decomposition method: Magnesium carbonate is produced by double decomposition reaction of magnesia and other compounds.

‌Magnesite carbonization method‌: Magnesium carbonate is prepared by calcining and carbonizing magnesia ore, which is suitable for areas with rich magnesia resources.

Asbestos tailings carbonization method: When using asbestos tailings as raw materials to produce light magnesium carbonate, the removal of hydrochloric acid solubles should be strengthened.‌‌
