What is progesterone powder?

Progesterone powder is a white or off-white crystalline powder, odorless. It is easily soluble in chloroform, soluble in ethanol, ether or vegetable oil, and insoluble in water.
It is an endogenous steroid and progestin sex hormone, and is also the main progestin in the body, secreted by the female ovaries. It is a steroid hormone containing 21 carbon atoms secreted by the ovarian luteal cells. It is also an intermediate product for the synthesis of all steroid hormones and is one of the progesterone hormones. There are two crystal forms, namely α-type and β-type. The two crystal forms have the same physiological activity. The α-type is precipitated from dilute ethanol and is an orthorhombic white prismatic crystal. The β-type is an orthorhombic white needle-shaped crystal. Both are insoluble in water, but soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, acetone, dioxane and concentrated sulfuric acid.

Physiological functions:

1. It can maintain the pregnancy of female animals and cause a series of physiological changes in pregnant animals, such as inhibiting estrus in female animals.
2. It promotes the thickening of the uterine mucosal layer, the curvature of the glands and the increase of secretory function.
3. It inhibits the peristalsis of the uterus, causes the cervix to contract, and secretes viscous fluids. These physiological changes provide suitable environmental conditions for the operation, growth and development, implantation of early embryos, and the continued growth of the fetus after implantation.
4. A small amount of progesterone and estrogen work together to promote estrus in female animals. Progesterone and prolactin work together to promote the development of mammary glands.
5. Participate in the feedback regulation of the hypothalamus and the anterior pituitary gland to coordinate and balance the secretion of animal reproductive hormones. In vivo content, the progesterone content of various livestock in the follicular phase is less than 1 nanogram/ml, cattle in the luteal phase is about 4 nanograms/ml, and in pregnancy is about 18 nanograms/ml.

Function:

1. Immune protection
It has the effect of immune protection and inhibiting immune response. It can also regulate immune function and improve the body's tolerance to embryos. It can enhance the inhibitory activity of immune cells in the body and reduce the damage of immune response to embryos, thereby increasing the survival rate and development rate of embryos. Some studies have implanted certain tumor cells into the animal uterus. Only in animals injected with progesterone, the cells are not rejected and implanted into the uterine wall, indicating that it can inhibit immune response. This also shows that when a woman is in a normal pregnancy, the increase in progesterone can prevent the embryo from being rejected by the mother and maintain pregnancy. When progesterone is insufficient, the embryo may be rejected by the mother and miscarry.
2. Embryo implantation
During ovulation, under the action of progesterone secreted by the corpus luteum, the endometrium is transformed from the proliferative phase to the secretory phase, making the endometrium receptive to embryo implantation. Decidual cells are transformed from endometrial stromal cells and contain glycogen granules to provide nutrition for the embryo. Progesterone can induce the decidualization of endometrial stromal cells and regulate the expression of various implantation-related factors in an autocrine or paracrine form. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the decidual reaction. It can promote embryo implantation, increase the adhesion and invasion ability of the embryo on the endometrium, and thus improve the success rate of embryo implantation.
3. Inhibit uterine contraction
Some studies have shown that this product can change the permeability of the uterine cell membrane to ions, making the membrane in a super-state, thereby reducing the excitability and conductivity of the uterine muscle, and reducing the sensitivity of the uterine muscle to various stimuli (including oxytocin), thereby preventing the uterus from expelling the embryo and playing a role in preserving the fetus. It can promote the implantation and fixation of the endometrium, increase the residence time of the embryo in the uterus, reduce the incidence of embryo loss and miscarriage,

Efficacy:

1. Prepare for the implantation of the fertilized egg: In the late menstrual cycle of women, it will cause the glands in the uterine mucosa to grow, the uterus to become congested, and the endometrium to thicken, preparing for the implantation of the fertilized egg. 3. Inhibit ovulation: It can close the cervix, reduce and thicken the mucus, and make it difficult for sperm to penetrate; in large doses, it can inhibit the secretion of pituitary gonadotropin through negative feedback on the hypothalamus, thus inhibiting ovulation.
4. Diuresis: Progesterone competes with aldosterone, promotes the excretion of sodium ions and chloride ions, and promotes diuresis.
