What is Glycerophosphocholine?
Glycerophosphocholine, or GPC, is a type of choline used to enhance cognitive ability and increase power output through its effects on growth hormone production. It is a water-soluble small molecule that normally exists in the human body and is a biosynthetic precursor of the important neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
It is a biosynthetic precursor of the key neurotransmitter acetylcholine, a product of hydrolysis of two fatty acid chains on the lecithin molecule in the human body, and is present in all mammalian cells. It is mainly found in soy lecithin and other plants and is used to make cognitive health supplements and enhance muscle strength. Effects of Glycerophosphocholine

Preparation Method
- At 25℃ and -0.09MPa, slowly add 140g of phosphoric acid (dropping speed is 10 drops/s) to 100g of choline chloride crude product (containing 70% choline chloride), and after the addition is completed, heat it to 70℃ and perform vacuum distillation until there is no distilled water, then heat it to 120℃ and control the pressure at -0.09MPa to react for 6h, and then add 50g of water to terminate the reaction to obtain a phosphorylcholine chloride mixture;
- At 25℃, 100g of the above phosphorylcholine chloride mixture is mixed with 3000g of calcium hydroxide aqueous solution (the mass fraction of calcium hydroxide is 1 5%) for 10 minutes until the pH of the system reaches 8 to obtain a double decomposition mixture;
- At 25°C and 35Pa, the double decomposition mixture is subjected to reduced pressure distillation until solids are precipitated to obtain a solid-liquid mixture;
- The solid-liquid mixture is cooled to -5°C for crystallization for 40 minutes, then filtered and dried at 100°C for 2 hours to obtain 100g of phosphorylcholine chloride calcium salt tetrahydrate (purity is 100%);
- The filtrate is recrystallized at -5°C for 40 minutes, then filtered and dried at 100°C for 2 hours to obtain phosphorylcholine chloride calcium salt tetrahydrate.
