What is D-panthenol?

D-Panthenol powder is a precursor of vitamin B5 and the right-handed isomer of panthenol, also known as calcium pantothenate or provitamin B5. It is a water-soluble vitamin that is widely found in various foods in nature, such as whole grains, vegetables and meat. It is converted into coenzyme A in the human body and participates in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins. Formula Guide

• Panthenol is soluble in water, easily soluble in ethanol and ethylene glycol, slightly soluble in glycerin and ether, and insoluble in oils
• All forms of panthenol are incompatible with strong acids and strong bases that may cause hydrolysis
• Panthenol has good compatibility with various cosmetic ingredients
• It is recommended that any form of panthenol can be added to the aqueous phase formula at any time under the condition of below 70°C
• When producing emulsion products, it is recommended to add it below 40°C to avoid unnecessary heating of active ingredients, thereby reducing the risk of racemization
• D-panthenol and ethyl panthenol may crystallize when stored for a long time. They can be heated to 40°C for a short time before adding to the formula to improve fluidity
• Compatible pH range is 4.0-7.5
• D-panthenol dosage: ≤5% (eyeliner and eye shadow: 1%)

Moisturizing function

Improve stratum corneum hydration: It can increase the molecular mobility of lipid and protein fragments in the stratum corneum, producing the characteristics of hydrated skin even under dehydrated conditions.
